ALL-STAR TEAMS

Near the end of each season, Tri-County league cities assemble all-star teams to compete in PONY post-season tournament play. One team is assembled for each age division - Mustang, Bronco and Pony. In Springfield coaches work among themselves, and with the baseball commissioner, to select the players they feel give Springfield the best opportunity to win post-season tournaments. All-star teams typically spend at least two weeks preparing for tournament play by practicing regularly and playing additional games against Tri-County all-star teams or other teams from the area. Players who are available for the tournament dates and the extra practice and games leading up to tournament time, will be given the greatest consideration for all-star selection. Players who are gone on vacation during that time risk not being selected.

All-star teams play in the PONY tournaments beginning in July with district tournaments. If they are successful in district play, they advance to the state tournament.

In tournaments our All-Star teams play other teams from our Tri-County league, as well as teams from other PONY organizations located in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
